Bose Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 Review

Noise-cancelling headphones are becoming more common for Nepalese people day by day. Sony and Bose are two of the best noise-cancelling headphone manufacturers in the world. We have previously talked about Sony’s WH-1000XM4. Today we will talk about WH-1000XM4’s competitor Bose’s Noise Cancelling Headphones 700 ( NCH 700 ). This headphone is an attempt to regain the dominance in the noise-cancelling headphone market by Bose. 

Design

The lack of visible hinges or screws in this headphone gives the headphone a very modern look compared to the industrial design of the QC35s. A stainless steel headband is the base of this headphone’s design. It cuts through the middle of each ear cup and runs down in a cylindrical shape from the top to bottom while constantly shrinking. You can easily slide the ear cup, which rotates 90 degrees to make the headphone fit your size. It can fit people of almost any size.  But, the headphones can be a lot more comfortable. 

Noise-Cancelling Technology

Microphones are used, both inside and outside the ear cups of this headphone, to monitor the surrounding sounds and instantly produce an opposite signal to cancel the sounds. Once the sound is canceled, an empty space to play the music on is created. The TriPort acoustic structure of this headphone also helps in noise-cancelling as in this structure, external ports are used to vent the earcups. The acoustic space on the inside that is maximized because of this gives more depth and detail to the music you are listening to.   

There are 11 settings of noise-cancelling in NCH 700. The settings range from full noise cancelling to full transparency. In full noise-cancelling settings, you’ll not hear anything except the sounds in your headphone. This might not be the best setting for every situation. That’s why other settings are also available. When you use full transparency mode, it’s like you are not even wearing a headphone, and you hear the music from an external source. You can switch to the conversation mode on this phone with just one switch. When you use conversation mode, the music will stop, and the headphone will move to full transparency mode.

The Microphone System

The microphone system in this headphone is really great. The microphones are designed to make sure that you can make calls in less in conditions that are less-than-ideal. Six different mics in this headphone work together to cancel the outside noise to make the calls clearer. Four mics work together to improve your audio by isolating your speech and making any disruptive sounds near you doesn’t pass through.

The pricing of this headphone is slightly higher than the headphones that Bose is trying to compete with.
