Elon Musk’s Starlink Space Internet is now expanding itself as a dedicated phone service provider, offering low-cost internet service for low-income people.
According to a file submitted to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), SpaceX will soon be offering Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service.
SpaceX’s services include the use of local services, access to emergency services and toll limitation services for low-income consumers.
Voice service rates will be on a standalone basis. The standalone voice service on Starlink’s network has been successfully tested.
SpaceX has also said that Starlink will offer voice rate plans in its service area, which will include free local calling. He also said that the FCC has fulfilled all the usage requirements to a minimum.
In addition, Starlink’s service can now operate on its own without external power sources in case of an emergency, according to SpaceX.
It also said it could reroute traffic to damaged facilities and manage emergency traffic spikes.
