Towards the end of 2020, the Xiaomi sub-brand launched a budget-oriented device Redmi 9 Power in India. And now, it has found its way to Nepal as well. Now, Let’s have a look at the specs, features of Redmi 9 Power along with official price, and availability in Nepal.
Redmi 9 Power Overview:
Design and Display
Starting with the display, this smartphone comes with a 6.53-inch IPS panel with an FHD 2340 x 1080 pixel resolution. It has an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The device has a waterdrop notch that has the front camera and the bezels around the screen are also quite remarkable. Redmi has mentioned the device with 400 nits of typical brightness. For added protection, there is Corning Gorilla Glass 3 on the front.
At the rear, For Redmi devices, the new aura design is something new. The smartphone has a curved back with an anti-fingerprint texture. The rectangular camera bump has been made so that it appears as it’s giving rise to light rays. Towards the bottom, slapping onto the panel there is a big Redmi branding.
Performance and Memory
Powering the smartphone is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 SoC which definitely lifts some eyebrows as it claims to replace a phone with MediaTek G80— the Redmi 9 Prime. The performance gap between the two chips is not very important on everyday tasks however the G80 performs slightly better at games. On the other hand, the Snapdragon 662 is based on an 11nm process in comparison to G80’s 12nm process. Thus, this device is more power-efficient.
Talking about the memory, the device comes with 4 or 6GB of LPDDR4x RAM which can be coupled with either 64GB of UFS 2.1 storage or 128GB of UFS 2.2 storage.
On to the cameras, Redmi 9 Power comes with a quad-camera setup on the rear. The headline here is the 48 MP primary camera on the rear side. The smartphone comes with an 8MP ultra-wide camera with a 120-degree Field of View (FOV). Furthermore, the setup includes two 2MP camera sensors for portrait shots and macro, respectively. The rear camera setup comes with features such as Time-Lapse, Night mode, Movie Frame, and Color Focus.
On the front, for the selfie camera, there is an 8MP sensor that supports AI beautification. As expected, the selfie camera is placed inside a traditional notch up top.
Rest of the specs
Fueling the phone is a massive 6000mAh battery which the company has claimed will optimize for a lifespan of up to 3 years. It ships with a 22.5W charger despite that it only supports charging speed up to 18W. Users can also use it as a power bank as it supports the reverse charge. The phone also has stereo speakers with Hi-Res audio which is quite difficult to find on a budget device. Similarly, Redmi is announcing the speakers as auto-cleaning similar to the Redmi Note 8.
For security, Redmi 9 Power has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and also has an IR blaster feature. The smartphone comes in four different color options – namely Mighty Black, Blazing Blue, Fiery Red, and Electric Green. Fortunately, all of these color variants are in Nepal.
