You can clearly notice that the standard Poco M2 features the same specifications as the Redmi 9 with a 2GB RAM variant for an extra thousand rupee. Furthermore, the Poco M2 Reloaded is the same as the M2, except that it comes with a single 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage.
Design and Overview
Anyway, since the spin-off, most of Poco’s announcements have been a rebranded Redmi. It is the case with Poco M2. It is made on the basis of the Redmi 9 which was launched previously in July in Nepal. In some markets, we can also find it listed as Redmi 9 Prime.
Starting off with the display, the device flaunts a 6.53-inch IPS display with FHD+ resolution. The panel is Low Blue light certified from TUV Rheinland. There is a waterdrop notch on top of the screen which has a selfie camera.
For the protection of the display, the smartphone comes with a layer of Gorilla Glass 3. At the rear, the company has gone with a dual-tone finish and also has an anti-fingerprint texture. Similarly, the smartphone has P2i certification against rust and minor splash. The smartphone is available in three colors namely Brick Red, Pitch Black and Slate Blue as shown in the image below.
Performance and Memory
Talking about the performance, the Poco M2 comes with Helio G80 chipset – MediaTek’s gaming-centric that has two Cortex-A75 cores at 2.0GHz along with six Cortex-A55 cores at 1.8GHz. MediaTek’s HyperEngine Technology manages power, connectivity, and memory resources in order to improve the gaming experience.
All the graphics in the smartphones are handled by Mali G52 GPU. On the memory, it is available in two memory configurations i.e. 6/64GB and 6/128GB—while M2 Reloaded comes in a solitary 4/64GB option. Poco M2 is the only device that offers 6GB of RAM for a price which is under Rs. 20,000 in the Nepali market. The device boosts on Android with MIUI 11.
Moving on to the camera, At the rear Poco M2 features a quad-camera setup with a vertically arranged camera. There is a 13MP primary camera accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide sensor and a 5MP macro sensor. With a depth sensor of 2MP, the setup is completed. On the front for selfies and video calls, Poco has an 8MP camera sensor.
Battery and Connectivity
The device is fueled with a 5,000mAh battery and also supports 18W fast charging via USB Type-C. For biometrics, just below the rear camera houses a physical fingerprint sensor. Poco M2 also features IR Blaster, Wireless FM Radio, and Bluetooth 5.0.
