Samsung endures to pump out new laptops and the latest laptop is the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go. Without any formal event or a press release, the notebook was silently added to the company’s product listing. It’s an entry-level Chromebook and the big feature of this laptop is LTE support for seamless connectivity on the go.
Impressively, Samsung has departed from the solid silver look in favor of something which more resembles the latest offering from ASUS. Chromebook comes along with a pale silver on the outer shell (which is presumably all plastic) with a matte black keyboard deck which creates that distinct reverse Panda look.
Talking more about its appearance, Galaxy Chromebook Go measures 327.1×225.6×15.9mm and weighs only 1.45 kg. The silver chassis surrounds a 14-inch TFT panel that packs in a total of 1366 x 768 pixels resolution. It can be set flat on a surface because of the 180º hinge.
Samsung has furnished its latest Chromebook with a tenkeyless keyboard and a decently large multi-touch trackpad.
Powering the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go is an Intel Celeron N4500 (Jasper Lake) processor. This dual-core processor has a maximum frequency (single-core) of 2.80 GHz. Additionally, its mere 6W TDP means this CPU doesn’t need any active cooling mechanism either. The graphics in this machine are handled by Intel UHD Graphics, as required for performing day-to-day tasks. Talking about its Operating System, it has Chrome OS.
As for memory, you can choose between 4GB and 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM. Similarly, Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go offers 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB of eMMC storage. The built-in storage can be expanded with the help of a microSD card using the available slot.
For online conferences / Video calling, the device comes with an HD (720p) webcam and a digital microphone. There are also dual stereo speakers — each of which is capable of 1.5W output—totaling 3W.
Here, backing the whole setup is a 42.3Wh battery that supports 45W charging via a Type-C port. Samsung has also included two Type-C, one Type-A port, and a headphone jack. Furthermore, there is a MicroSD card and a nano security slot.
In terms of wireless connectivity, it has Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/Yes, and Bluetooth 5.1. This Chromebook comes with optional LTE which requires a mobile data plan from a carrier. You can tap into an LTE network using the nano-SIM slot.
Samsung has not disclosed Chromebook’s pricing and availability details yet. But considering its specs, the price of the Samsung Galaxy Chromebook Go is expected to be under USD 300. Furthermore, We will keep you updated once more details are obtained.
